SAAB: Public Phone Numbers

Support As A Business: Public Phone Numbers

Originally, when I created this website, I was hesitant to post my phone number here. I figured anyone who needed it would have enough face to face interactions that my number would spread that way. And those who didn’t need it? Well I didn’t need to make life any easier for the junk calls. But things have changed since then.

At this point, my phone number can easily be found through online searches. I did a quick search and found multiple sites that offer it (for free, I didn’t bother spending money). And while those sites have all sorts of wrong information too, they did have my correct phone number. So anyone who cares enough to go looking? They will find my number, even if they have to try a few wrong ones first. And anyone building a massive database of all phone numbers? Well they will find my number too, if they haven’t already.

As for the junk calls? Well those have been trending down. Sure, I still get them, technically. But having changed my default ringtone to silence, my phone doesn’t ring. At least not that I can hear, and that is the important part. Now making that transition did mean I had to manually assign ringtones to everyone in my contact list. That way calls from known people will make my phone ring. But I did that a while back, so that’s a sunk cost.

Why am I mentioning this? Recently I’ve had a few clients say they lost my phone number, and had trouble finding it again. While they managed to work it out, as evidenced by being able to tell me they lost it, making it easier for my clients to get a hold of me does seem prudent. A search for my name should, ideally, point them at this site. And this site will now have my number on it.

At this point, I just consider my phone number public information. You know, kind of like it was with phone books.
