The Wheel

      Arguably the greatest piece of technology, ever.

      I was recently reminded of the value of this ‘simple machine‘. Long story short, having wheels made a difficult task much easier. Turned what would have otherwise been hours of back breaking work into… still a few hours of work, but without the same sort of pain. Ramps (aka inclined plane) and levers came into play too, although no where near as much as wheels.

      While we like to focus on the more recent technological developments, these ‘simple machines’ are still incredibly useful. Sure, they don’t have the same sort of flash as modern electronics. But it doesn’t matter how fancy your electric car is, it won’t work without wheels.

      At least today, perhaps the hover car is down the road. But until then, it’s prudent to remember the past and the tools it has provided us. After all, you never know when you too will benefit from a ‘simple machine’.
